JAV stands for Japanese Adult Video — the studio-driven, code-numbered side of the Japanese industry. The real difference from Western porn is not the footage but the numbering system: every release carries a unique code, so if you remember the code you can find that exact scene. Western studios almost never work this way.
How a JAV code is built
A code is a studio prefix plus a serial number, joined by a dash: ABC-123, SSIS-001. The letters identify the label, the digits identify which release it is for that label.
That is why searching by code beats searching by title — Japanese titles often circulate under several translated names. Our search box accepts codes with or without the dash, in any case.
Four product lines, and why they are not interchangeable
Censored (有码): the mainstream legal release in Japan, mosaic applied by law, with proper label, code and release date. Most consistent in production quality. 6,840 scenes here.
Uncensored leaks (流出): originally censored releases whose unedited masters escaped during production or distribution. Same film, no mosaic, but the code may no longer match official records. 6,516 scenes.
Amateur (素人): non-contract performers, usually no official code, internal studio numbering only, names often aliases or omitted. 4,493 scenes — the wildest corner of the Japanese section.
One-Pondo: a veteran uncensored label that never needed a leak. 2,574 scenes, wide span of years, mixed quality.

The shortest path to the right scene
Decide first whether you want a performer or a genre. For a performer, the model directory sorts about 3,000 people by scene count and shows debut year plus signature genres at the top of each page.
